Several things to be thankful for in 2013. Lots of family time and accomplishments, many milestones. One such is the marathon that I completed in 2013. It was fun.
Here’s to a wonderful 2014.
For some time now, the 14-minute mile was the best I could do. In fact, at the Dallas Running Club’s Independence Day 10K, I finished the race at a 16-minute / mile pace. So, imagine my surprise when I completed a mile this past week at 12:25.
What’s different? Well, for one thing, I signed up with Get You In Shape’s boot camp as well as their Cardio Club. End of week two and I can report that I’m getting value. The metrics may be good (I may lose weight, gain inches at the right places and lose them elsewhere)… but the big thing I noticed thus far is that it makes my exercise consistent. For the past 19 months, I’ve been good with getting out in all weather conditions, but this is different. The class starts with me or without 🙂 Also, its been mostly a lonely run thus far, this group thing actually is working for me.
With the energy boost that this regular stretching I think, yesterday I was able to jog for 45 minutes at the Dallas Arboretum. Thousands of pumpkins were displayed everywhere… that and the 52F temperatures – yes, Fall’s here.
Decided I’d get past newbie level with the latest WordPress software. I’m playing now with themes and will create some categories and tags. Over the next few weeks, I will add a few static pages to hold other interests.
Here are my priorities for 2011:
What do I want to learn to support that, and how can I go about learning?
1) Share as much as I can at work and in life.
I am sharing patterns for managing stakeholder expectations, a risk-based approach to project and program management, nurturing symbiotic long-term relationships, social software use, organizational knowledge (connecting the dots), skills I’ve picked up, and ideas and insights I’ve collected along the way. I can learn through:
I will know I met this learning goal when I look back to see that I have made plenty of mistakes – publicly – this year and can articulate what I have learned from them.
3) Live with awareness and gratitude.
I can explore this further through:
